The lanterns are made from Tyvek, a durable, water resistant and 100 % sustainable material. This means that the lanterns can hang outside in all weather, but we do advise to take them insideĀ if it begins to rain or during strong winds.
During the day, the solar panel at the top of the lantern absorbs energy from theĀ sun and stores this energy in a rechargeable AAA-battery.Ā The lanterns light up magically at dusk and they also switch off when there is no more power in the battery.
During summer (when the sun is high in the sky) the lanterns will stay lit for the longest time. Then the lanterns can easily stay lit for seven to eight hours, if they hang in a sunny spot during the day.
The lanterns do charge on a cloudy day,Ā but on these days the lanterns won't stay on for as long. The same applies during winter when the sun is low in the sky.

This is a solar product and it requires sunlight to be powered. The length of time these stay illuminated depends on the time of year and weather conditions. They will still work in winter but only for a couple of hours from dusk. Approximate lighting times are: Spring = 2 - 5 hours, Summer = 5 - 8 hours, Autumn = 2 - 5 hours, Winter = 0 - 2 hours. Expect the brightness intensity to fade as the battery charge becomes low.
